My son, John A. Taylor, is honored for his courage, resilience, and continued dedication to public service. While serving as a patrol officer with the Roanoke Rapids Police Department, he survived a life-threatening incident in which he was shot four times in the line of duty (a fifth bullet missed).
Through determination and strength, he recovered and remained committed to protecting others. Today, as Assistant Special Agent in Charge and K-9 Unit Coordinator with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, he carries forward a career defined by bravery, leadership, and service to the people of North Carolina.
