SFC Tyler Westbrook
About Tyler
5.12.1984 – 8.28.2015
Tyler Westbrook was born on May 12, 1984, in Marietta, Ohio. From a young age, it was clear he had a strong spirit, a sharp mind, and a deep sense of commitment to those around him. Those who knew him remember a man of unwavering dedication—humble, strong, and selfless. Whether in a leadership role or offering quiet support to a friend, Tyler lived his life with purpose.
In July 2007, Tyler answered the call to serve his country. Over the course of his military career, he was deployed twice to Iraq and three times to Africa. He completed elite training courses including the Special Forces Sniper School and the Special Forces Operations Command Jumpmaster Course. He served with distinction, earning the respect and trust of his brothers-in-arms.
Tyler’s death on August 28, 2015, is a heartbreaking reminder that the battles many service members face don’t always end on the battlefield. Invisible wounds can be the hardest to bear – and the easiest to overlook.
As we honor Tyler’s memory, we also reflect on the urgent need for greater awareness, compassion, and support for those facing internal struggles. His legacy is not only one of service, but of humanity.
We remember him. We honor him. And through continued advocacy and support, we work to ensure others receive the help they need – before it’s too late.
